P&S Bakery, Inc.: A Legacy of Quality

For more than fifty years, our story has been one of passion and dedication. It all started on June 6, 1974, in Struthers, Ohio, when David George Sr. opened a charming Cornersburg Pizza shop, setting us on a path of culinary excellence. We celebrated our 50th anniversary on June 6, 2024, and we take pride in reflecting on decades of delivering exceptional quality to our loyal customers.

Origins

In addition to perfecting pizzas, David Sr. unveiled a culinary gem: Pepperoni & Meatball Rolls. Crafted from our exclusive dough, homemade sauce, premium mozzarella, and Grandma’s treasured meatball recipe, these rolls became an instant hit. David Sr. ingeniously wrapped the succulent meatballs in our signature dough, smothered them in our homemade sauce, and generously layered them with mozzarella cheese. Even today, people reminisce about their exquisite taste.

As the business flourished, the early 80s marked the expansion of P&S Bakery, Inc. (PSB) into manufacturing Pepperoni Rolls with Sliced American Cheese for Struthers City Schools. This marked the beginning of our journey across Northeast Ohio, laying the foundation for our national School Lunch Program. Today, our program proudly serves educational institutions in all 50 states, a testament to our enduring commitment to quality and taste.

Expansion

With his sons joining the business in 1992, PSB's Wholesale Baking division flourished from our Youngstown-Poland Road facility. This era marked diversification, from servicing Canton and Cleveland City Schools to forging partnerships and supplying filled kolaches to major grocery chains.

In 2000, PSB relocated to its Western Reserve Rd. facility, a pivotal move that solidified our standing as a leading bakery provider. Occupying a sprawling 20,000-square-foot plant, compliant with Ohio Department of Agricultural regulations, we continued to raise the bar in quality and innovation.

In March 2001, PSB achieved registration as an Ohio Department of Agriculture Meat Inspection Plant. Since then, we have proudly earned the mark of inspection from the USDA as a federal meat inspection plant. Our commitment to excellence is evident through our rigorous implementation of:

  • Sanitation protocols
  • Allergen awareness measures
  • Recall procedures
  • Food defense strategies
  • USDA-mandated Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • And numerous other Quality Assurance Programs

PSB also became a BRC Food Safety Certified plant. This certification is nationally and globally recognized for the quality and safety of the food products we provide.

Cultivating Partnerships

Through unwavering dedication, David Sr. & David Jr. nurtured relationships with food brokers and clients, fostering collaborations that resulted in the creation and sale of specialty cookies and holiday rolls to esteemed partners, including Giant Eagle, Redner’s Markets, Weis Markets, BJ’s Wholesale, and Walmart.

Embracing the Future

In 2020, PSB embarked on a new chapter with the acquisition of our expansive facility at 2720 Intertech Drive in Youngstown, Ohio. This modernized plant, spanning 43,000 square feet, was meticulously designed to meet the highest industry standards, enabling us to serve both national and global markets. Situated on 5 acres of land, the facility embodies our commitment to innovation and excellence, with operations commencing on March 22, 2022, and provisions for future expansion. Our Legacy of Quality will continue!
